Tangential thread cutting
Tangential thread cutting is still very popular today because of the high production speed, indeed it is possible to thread a 6″ (150mm) Bar, or 8″(200mm) pipe in just one pass. (see Video clips)
CNC carbide tip machines require several passes to achieve the same results.
Chasers can be reground many times giving excellent tool life. They are manufactured from High Speed Steel and are relatively inexpensive.
